Top 6 Must-Have Apps in Mac App Store
The new Mac App Store has arrived, and with it approximately 1,000 apps available to Mac desktop and laptop owners. Then, What are the Must-Have Mac apps in the Mac app store?
We've spent the day downloading and experimenting with various apps, some of which behave just like full-fledged, existing desktop software (such as StuffIt Expander and iPhoto), and others that function more like widgets and/or iPad apps (such as Twitter). Here we show you the top 6 Must-Have apps in Mac app store.
Must-Have Apps in Mac App Store: Pixelmator
Pixelmator was previously available as a standalone software application, has transitioned its product entirely to the Mac App Store. It's a robust image editor that's much faster and cheaper than Adobe Photoshop, and thus great for the photo editing amateur/enthusiast. It doesn't have all of Photoshop's features though, so professionals and those who already have a Photoshop license will likely want to stick with their existing product.
Must-Have Apps in Mac App Store: SketchBook Pro
SketchBook Pro, one of my favorite apps for the iPad, has brought its full suite of features to the Mac App Store for less than half the cost of its desktop application. Simply put, it's a great tool for doodling, sketching and painting on the desktop. A free version with limited features is also available.
Must-Have Apps in Mac App Store: Twitter
Twitter's Mac App closely resembles its iPad app. However, it's designed to take up only part of your screen, making it feel more like a widget than a desktop app. It's a basic client that will work for lightweight users, but won't replace desktop apps like Tweetdeck for more frequent users of the service.
Must-Have Apps in Mac App Store: MindNode
MindNode for Mac is a simple application that allows you to create mind maps. Multiple maps can be created on one canvas and easily tweaked and resized. A .99 version with many additional features and functions, such as folding and images, is also available in the Mac App Store.
Must-Have Apps in Mac App Store: Clippy
Clippy is a simple, but extremely useful utility app that saves your 100 most recent copies, allowing you to copy several things at a time, as well as recover items you've copied and lost by accidentally copying something else.
Must-Have Apps in Mac App Store: Caffeine
Caffeine is a free, simple application that prevents your Mac from going to sleep, dimming the screen or launching screen savers - a must-have app for anyone who enjoys watching movies on their Macs.
